This whole page is really just so I have somewhere to put all of my apps in semi-usable forms.

But also somewhere to gather the thoughts, and talk about the whys and hows, the concepts before they become actual applications.

This week I threw together a little CMS for my actual work repairing caravans, it links with MechanicDesk that we use for our bookings, and scans a local filesystem structure where we dump photos and certificates for work we've done. And then we have a neat little client app that you just throw in a rego number and get the full history of that caravan and all of its certifications. Saves us loads of time.

The other project I am actively working on is Calliope, its meant to be a tool for writers so that you can keep track of all of your elements, write in a nice clean distraction free fullscreen mode, get AI based feedback etc. The challenge I had was that Claude CLI has some really restrictive safety modes, and a lot of what I write is quite dark cute pastel aesthetic aside. Turns out my story Johnny and Jane - a suicidal love story trips that safety system hard. So I wasted a bunch of time trying to a get a local LLM model to do that kind of assessment, but really didn't have much luck, it was erroring out at really trivial numbers of words. Definitely not enough to asssess whole chapters or novels.

So at the moment I am back to using Claude CLI and some content is just not going to work with that app, and of course the official solution would be to switch to a proper API usage AI model, and just let the professionals handle it. But as an indie software project, thats overkill and not economically viable. I really wish some of these AI companies would give us learner rates or experimental API usage with our Claude Pro... or SOMETHING to let those of us who are still learning make a bunch of mistakes without it costing a small fortune.

I also don't understand why Claude Pro doesn't just revent to Claude Free features when we run out of usage, like let me use it for my basic chat, and day to day stuff still you tightarses.

Anyway, thanks so much for being here 💖
